The short story
A website can look beautiful and still do absolutely nothing for the business.
That is the part people sometimes forget.
You can have good colours.Good photographs.A nice logo.Fancy animations.
And still have a website that leaves visitors wondering what you actually do.
So before spending more money on a new website, I would start with a simpler question:
Is the one you already have doing its job?
Can I understand the business?
Someone should be able to land on your website and understand what you do without studying it.
What do you offer?Who is it for?Why should someone care?
If those answers are hidden somewhere three clicks away, you already have a problem.
Can I see what to do next?
A visitor should not have to guess.
Book.Call.Message.Request a quote.Visit your location.
Whatever the next step is, make it obvious.
Does it work on a phone?
This one sounds obvious.
But it is still worth checking.
Most people are not sitting at a desk waiting to admire your desktop website.
Open it on your phone.Actually use it.Click everything.Read everything.Try to contact yourself.
Does it feel trustworthy?
People make decisions quickly online.
Broken links.Old information.Poor photographs.Missing contact details.Slow pages.
All of these things quietly reduce trust.
Final thought
A website does not exist to impress the person who built it.
It exists to help the person who visits it.
