Privacy

What this site does with your information, described as it works today. Last updated 15 October 2026.

01 — Who is responsible

Butler & AI.

This website is run by Josh Eagle as Butler & AI. For anything about your information, write to info@butlerandai.co.ke, call +254 721 844 509, or visit butlerandai.site.

02 — The short version

Very little is kept, and you choose what you send.

This is a website of pages to read. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no payments. Private analytics starts automatically, without a consent banner, unless you have turned it off. No advertising analytics is used.

The browser notes, analytics and enquiry form are described below. More on browser storage is on the cookies page.

03 — While you browse

A note kept in your browser tab.

To know where an enquiry began, the site keeps a short note in your browser's session storage. It holds:

The page you landed on. Where you came from: the website that sent you, a source tag in the link, or "direct". The last few pages you opened. Choices you made on the way, such as a kind of work you opened.

This stays in your browser and is cleared when you close the tab. It is only read by the site's own scripts.

Small click notes.

When you click a WhatsApp or email link, or make a choice in the "Start a project" flow, your browser sends a small note to this site: what was clicked, which page you were on, and the note above. It carries no name, no contact details and none of the text you type. It is written to the hosting provider's server logs so Butler & AI can see which pages lead to conversations.

Private analytics.

While analytics is enabled, PostHog EU receives anonymous browser and session identifiers, page paths, clicks, successful-enquiry counts, browser and device information, and approximate country and city information derived from your connection. URL queries and fragments are removed. Form contents and contact details are not intentionally included in these events.

If PostHog session recording is enabled, input values and page text are masked, private regions are blocked, and network request headers and bodies are not recorded. Use “Turn off analytics” in the footer to stop new capture and recording; you can turn it on again from the same control. Existing opt-outs remain respected.

04 — When you get in touch

Your message, your choice of channel.

The WhatsApp option, and the Email option in "Start a project", open your own WhatsApp or email app with a message already written. A short line such as "via butlerandai.site/contact" is added so Butler & AI can see where the message came from. Nothing is sent until you send it, and from then it is handled by the service you used.

The email icons and links elsewhere on the site open a small message form instead. It asks for your name, an email address, a subject and a message, and you tick a box to agree that your details are used to reply to you. Those details go, with the note from section 03, to Butler & AI by email at info@butlerandai.co.ke, sent through the Butler & AI mail server. If the form cannot send your message, the email link under it opens your own email app with your words already filled in.

The "Send enquiry" option asks for your name and an email address or WhatsApp number, together with the topic and message you wrote. Before it sends, you tick a box to agree that your details are used to reply to you. Those details go, with the note from section 03, to Butler & AI by email at info@butlerandai.co.ke. If you pick a day and time in "Book a conversation", that choice is part of the message and is not stored anywhere else.

Your name, contact details and message are used to reply to your enquiry and for nothing else. The note from section 03 is used only to see which pages lead to enquiries.

05 — Who else is involved

The services behind the site.

Vercel hosts the site and keeps its server logs, including the click notes. PostHog EU processes analytics and any enabled masked session recordings while analytics is enabled. The Butler & AI mail server (cPanel hosting) receives the email when you use "Send enquiry" or the message form. Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google's font servers when a page loads. WhatsApp and your own email provider handle messages you send through those options.

These services may handle information in other countries. Each has its own privacy policy.

06 — How long, and your choices

You can ask.

Nothing on this site deletes enquiries or log entries automatically. An enquiry stays in the Butler & AI inbox until it is deleted, and server logs follow the hosting provider's own settings.

Analytics and recordings follow the retention settings of the PostHog project. Turning analytics off stops new capture; it does not delete events already received.

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to info@butlerandai.co.ke. If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can also contact the data protection authority in your country.
